Neighborhood Emergency Support Team (NEST)
Our neighborhood is stronger when we look out for one another. This volunteer group is built around a simple buddy system to help protect elderly residents and other vulnerable neighbors during emergencies such as wildfires or evacuation events. Volunteers can choose to be a designated contact for a nearby neighbor who may need extra assistance, helping ensure they receive evacuation alerts, checking that they are aware of changing conditions, and assisting them in leaving safely if needed. If a volunteer is unable to physically help evacuate, they can provide critical information to first responders by identifying where assistance is needed. The goal is not to replace emergency services, but to create a connected neighborhood where no one is left behind during a crisis.
